• Pre-school life

      • Children join our pre-school at the age of 5. In the Hungarian system, this is the equivalent of the last year of kindergarten, the so-called ‘nagycsoport’ although the program of our system is different to it.

It is the children who continue their studies in our higher year groups who benefit the most from IPS pre-school due to being able to carry on with the IPC program and their English language studies. However, families choosing to educate their child in mainstream Hungarian schools often opt to spend the pre-school year in Szeged IPS to ensure their child’s knowledge of English is set on solid foundations.

      • Assessments

      • Children are not graded in pre-school but get a written assessment of their achievement and progress in the form of report cards twice a year. Children’s DIFER test results, which tests are done twice a year, form a part of their overall results.

  • Subjects taught

      • English
      • English teaching involves the teaching of Literacy and communication skills. Although children do not learn to read and write in pre-school, they do learn to read and write the letters of the alphabet and many sight words.

All subjects, with the exception of Hungarian, are taught in English, allowing a strong emphasis to be placed on the development of vocabulary, grammar and communication skills.

      • IPC
      • Children begin their IPC studies in pre-school with Milepost 1 covering all primary subjects such as Art; Design, Technology and Innovation; Geography; Health and Wellbeing; History; ICT and Computing; International; Music; P.E.; Science.

      • Hungarian
      • Hungarian studies focus on enriching children’s vocabulary, enhancing their (joint) story telling skills and overall verbal expression skills, enabling drama games and reading comprehension tasks.

  •   Teachers

Our dedicated pre-school teachers are Mónika and Csanád. Both are huge favorites of the kids; teachers and parents know exactly why! Edit, a lovely new addition to our team assists Mónika and Csanád daily.
